Featured Blog: Bookstore People

Bookstore People is a blog dedicated to books (like all or most of the features we post) but more specifically independent bookstores. If you can't read the screenshot to the left the header says: "Bookstore People: Reviews of independent bookstores because buying and reading books is an adventure." And so it should be. If you're the type of booklover that enjoys shopping for books almost as much as you love reading them, this is a site that you are really going to enjoy. Claire and Kim travel all over the place visiting small independent bookstores, then they post their reviews of them online so we can all have that taste of adventure! That's not all that they post about, it's much more than that, but that's the drive behind the blog. If you're interested in knowing more about Claire and Kim, and Bookstore People, visit their About Us page.
But that's not all, this will be my longest feature yet because I have to say I'm a bit excited about Bookstore People (not that I haven't been excited about my other features). I've got to add that I've really enjoyed browsing the blog, checking out different posts, clicking links to other pages and blogs, and finding out, sadly, that there's only two independent bookstores in my town! So I'm going to send you to two different posts sent to me by Kim. The first is a post that really shares the root of what Clair and Kim do, here. The second is their most popular post, it's a list of the comedy books that the writers of the Simpsons recommend, it's really a great read, here. And finally I'll send you to my personal favorite (so far), a post by Clair about why she loves JD Salinger (author of Catcher in the Rye and Nine Stories), you can read this one here. One of the reasons I enjoyed this post so much is because, as a book lover myself, I could really identify with the way Claire talks about Salinger's effect on her. My favorite part of this post is when Claire is writing about why Nine Stories is much more than just words or a collection of stories. She writes, "It’s one of the books that made me want to be a writer, I know that much. And I know that every time I write a patch of dialogue that feels real to me (not as often as I’d like), I think about JD Salinger and how no one has ever written more realistic dialogue, dialogue which sounds like what people might actually say–but resonates in ways that stay with you for a long time."
So go, read, and subscribe if you enjoy it as much as I do. Also I suggest you check out all the sites they've linked to in their posts, I've really enjoyed my research on this one, getting lost reading post by post, it's really a six degrees of separation type of activity!
